Scriptures That Ground Me During Busy Seasons

Finding peace, purpose, and God’s gentle guidance—right in the middle of real life.

Why I Return to Scriptures During Busy Seasons

There are seasons when life moves quickly. The list grows, messages wait for answers, and even when I stop working, my thoughts keep going.

When I notice that stretched feeling, I know I need to pause and return to God’s Word.

Scripture helps me look beyond the urgency of the moment. It gives me somewhere to bring my worries, reconsider my priorities, and remember that I can seek God in the middle of an unfinished day.

These are five Scriptures that ground me during busy seasons, along with a few simple ways I make room for reflection.

Scripture quotations below are from the King James Version.

Why I Return to Scriptures During Busy Seasons

Some days, I have time to read and journal slowly. Other days, I spend a few minutes with one passage.

I try to read the surrounding verses, consider what they reveal about God, and bring my response into prayer.

A familiar verse can offer fresh encouragement when I give it time. Sometimes it also asks me to reconsider how I have been thinking or living.

1. Psalm 46:10 — Remembering Who God Is

“Be still, and know that I am God…”

These words invite me to pause, but the whole psalm gives them depth. Psalm 46 speaks of trouble, upheaval, and conflict while declaring that God is a refuge and strength.

When my attention is scattered, this passage helps me remember that the demands around me are only part of the picture. I can acknowledge God before deciding how to respond.

A gentle question: What has been taking so much of my attention that I have forgotten to turn toward God?

Read Psalm 46 in full.

2. Matthew 11:28 — Bringing My Weariness to Jesus

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

This is a passage I return to when I feel burdened.

Jesus invites the weary to come to Him. In the following verses, He speaks of learning from Him and finding rest for our souls.

I find comfort in being able to come honestly—with the worry, the responsibility, and the questions still unresolved.

I don’t have to wait until I have everything organised before I pray.

A gentle question: What burden would I like to bring to Jesus today?

Read Matthew 11:28–30.

3. Proverbs 3:5–6 — Seeking Wisdom for the Next Step

“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

When I am juggling decisions, I can spend a great deal of energy trying to work out every possible outcome.

This passage brings me back to trust.

I can pray, consider what Scripture teaches, seek wise advice, and make a thoughtful decision. I can also acknowledge that I do not see everything clearly.

Sometimes the next step is enough to consider for today.

A gentle question: Where do I need wisdom rather than another round of worrying?

Read Proverbs 3:5–6.

4. Exodus 14:14 — Trusting While Moving Forward

“The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”

Moses spoke these words to the Israelites at the Red Sea. In the next verse, God tells him to instruct the people to move forward.

Reading those verses together reminds me that trust and action can belong together.

In my own circumstances, I can consider what is mine to do while bringing the things beyond my control before God.

That may mean making a difficult call, asking for help, or taking a step I have been avoiding.

A gentle question: What responsible action can I take while entrusting the outcome to God?

Read Exodus 14:13–16.

5. 2 Corinthians 12:9 — Receiving Grace in My Limitations

“My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”

Paul describes asking for a difficulty to be removed and receiving this answer about grace.

I return to this passage when I feel pressure to manage everything well.

It encourages me to acknowledge my limitations honestly. Some things are difficult. Sometimes I need support, rest, or a more realistic expectation of what I can do.

I can bring that truth into prayer.

A gentle question: Where am I expecting myself to carry more than I reasonably can?

Read 2 Corinthians 12:7–10.

Simple Faith Tools That Help Me Stay Grounded

I appreciate familiar things that make it easy to begin: my Bible, a notebook, and somewhere I can sit for a few minutes.

A journal gives me room to write a prayer, name a concern, or record something for which I am grateful. It doesn’t need to be elaborate. A few honest sentences can be enough.

A devotional can offer a starting point, too. My hope for Closer Still is that it encourages readers to make room for reflection, prayer, and a deeper walk with God in everyday life.

A Prayerful Pause for Today

Choose one of these Scriptures and read the surrounding passage slowly.

Notice what draws your attention. Is there something you want to ask God? Something you need to reconsider, act on, or release?

If you would appreciate help beginning, open the prayer widget in the Faith & Reflection Room. Let it offer a starting point, then bring your own thoughts and concerns into prayer.

Carrying Scripture Into the Rest of the Day

A busy season may still be demanding after we close our Bibles.

There may be practical changes to make, conversations to have, or support to seek. Spending time with Scripture gives me room to consider those things in God’s presence.

If your season feels full, begin with one passage. Read it thoughtfully. Offer an honest prayer.

Then carry what you have reflected on into the next ordinary part of your day.
