What experience does Debbie Blower have with children’s writing?

 Debbie Blower has years of experience helping children explore writing, imagination, art, and storytelling. Before The Story House, she co-founded The Muse Program as Ms. Huston, a creative writing and arts-based literacy program that helped young writers build confidence in their ideas and voices. 

What was The Muse Program?

 The Muse Program was a creative writing and arts-based literacy program co-founded by Debbie Blower when she was known as Ms. Huston. It used imagination, visual art, storytelling, fables, mythology, and creative prompts to help children express ideas through writing and artwork. 

Did The Muse Program work with schools?

 Yes. The Muse Program was incorporated into a number of Durham schools and was also offered as a private community program. It was designed to work alongside teachers and support classroom learning through creative writing, art, and visualization. 

How does Debbie’s experience shape The Story House?

 Debbie’s work with The Muse Program helped shape her belief that stories can help children wonder, grow, express themselves, and feel that their ideas matter. That same heart continues through the children’s books and meaningful stories created for The Story House.
