About the Author – Debbie Blower

Debbie Blower, a dedicated storyteller and children's book author, is also a faith-inspired writer who weaves purpose and poetry into her work—harmonizing imagination, meaning, and connection in every piece she crafts.

As a lifelong lover of words, Debbie Blower, the author, grew up enveloped in stories—living them, feeling them, and eventually creating her own. Writing and illustrating have become her creative outlet for reflection and joy, where imagination and meaning converge.

Today, as a heart-centered entrepreneur, Debbie creates a diverse collection of storytelling books, including children's picture books, chapter books, devotionals, poetry, and books for entrepreneurs—each written with intention and heart. Her stories aim to inspire connection, emotional growth, and a sense of wonder for readers of all ages.

Her passion for storytelling also extends into purpose-driven communication, where she guides mission-based brands to find their voice and share their message with clarity, empathy, and impact.

At the core of everything she creates is family. As a parent and Nana, Debbie writes stories filled with warmth, rhythm, humor, and gentle life lessons—crafted to help children feel seen, safe, and deeply loved.

Whether writing for children or adults, her purpose remains the same: to create meaningful stories that inspire reflection, spark connection, and encourage readers to slow down, feel deeply, and embrace what brings them joy.

When she’s not writing, she’s busy collecting moments, memories, and stories worth keeping.

Why I Write the Books I Do

At The Story House, every book begins with heart, purpose, and a desire to connect with readers in a meaningful way. I write the books I do because stories have the power to encourage, comfort, teach, inspire, and remind us that our lives matter.

Some books are written for children — to spark imagination, build confidence, encourage creativity, and help young readers discover the joy of story. Others are written for adults — to offer reflection, hope, faith, encouragement, personal growth, and thoughtful moments that speak to real life.

My writing is shaped by family, faith, resilience, creativity, and the belief that stories can meet people right where they are. Whether I am writing a children’s adventure, a faith-based reflection, an adult chapter book, or a heart-centered entrepreneur guide, my goal is always the same: to create books that feel honest, meaningful, and lasting.

The Story House is a place for books written with purpose — stories that light hearts, open conversations, and leave readers with something they can carry with them.

Why does Debbie Blower write for different ages and readers

Debbie Blower writes children’s books, adult books, faith-based reflections, and entrepreneur guides because each collection serves a different reader need.

Her children’s books encourage imagination, confidence, and creativity, while her adult and faith-based books offer reflection, encouragement, personal growth, and hope.

Across every category, the heart of The Story House remains the same: meaningful stories written with purpose.

From The Muse Program to The Story House

Before The Story House, there was The Muse Program.

Years ago, when Debbie Blower was known as Ms. Huston, she co-founded a creative writing and arts-based literacy program that helped children discover the power of imagination, storytelling, visual art, and self-expression.

The program worked alongside teachers and school curriculum, helping young writers build confidence in their ideas and their voices.

That early work with children still lives at the heart of The Story House today.

Frequently Asked Questions

When did you first realize you wanted to become a writer?

I think I first realized I wanted to be a writer when I looked back and saw that writing had always been part of me.  As a child, I was always creating — writing, drawing, painting, keeping journals, and filling notebooks with ideas and half-finished stories. I didn’t necessarily have the words for it then, but storytelling was always there.

How would you describe yourself outside of being an author?

Outside of being an author, I would describe myself as a wife, mom, Nana, encourager, creative soul, and someone who finds meaning in the simple things.

Family is a huge part of who I am. I love being a Nana, and my grandchildren have brought so much joy, inspiration, and imagination into my life. They've reminded me how important it is to slow down, listen, notice the little things, and see the world through curious eyes.

I’m also someone who loves home, faith, creativity, and gathering people around the table. Whether it’s through cooking, storytelling, faith-filled reflection, or encouraging someone in their own journey, I think a big part of who I am is helping others feel seen, valued, and welcomed.

So outside of writing, I’m really someone who loves deeply, creates from the heart, and believes there is still beauty and purpose in every season of life.

How much of your real life influences your stories or writing?

A lot of my real life finds its way into my stories, although not always in an exact way.  Sometimes it is a memory, a feeling, a place, a conversation, or something one of my grandchildren says or does.

That's where my newest book Rocket Boosted Go-Karts came from, a grandsons love of fast cars. As well as The Storm That Wasn't, which is 100% based on my 4 youngest grandsons, complete with their personalities and names. Other times it is a lesson I have learned through faith, family, motherhood, being a Nana, or walking through different seasons of life.

I believe real life gives stories their heart. Even when I am writing fiction, there is usually something true underneath it — a feeling, a question, a hope, or a piece of wisdom I want to pass along.  My dad’s story became The Boy with the Tin Trunk, so that book was very directly connected to real life and family history.

My children’s books are often inspired by my grandchildren, memories from raising my own children, or the belief that children need to know their ideas and imagination matter.  So I would say real life influences almost everything I write. I may change the setting, the characters, or the details, but the heart of the story usually begins with something I have lived, loved, learned, or remembered.
